Joe Pye Weed

Description: Eupatorium purpureum (alongside the blue-flowered Campanula americana). After years of following false leads, I was driving down this back road in Southwestern Missouri and saw what was clearly a ‘Joe Pye weed’, and thinking; it’s ‘high and dry’ here and so that plant there may be the long sought after (by me) Eupatorium purpureum. And it sure enough it is. A good day. Look at other Eupatorium photos to see distinctions between them.
